Proposed Merger **All Read!!**

I come to you guys with, as the title says, a proposed merger. This would merge Evolution Wrestling with the PWO (ProminentWrestlingOrganization.8m.com)


A little history. The events that transpired here that lead to me taking over EW (Laura suddenly leaving, myself stepping up to prevent the fed closing) played out in nearly the exact same way in the PWO. In the PWO, I was handling Johnny Rotten, as well as acting as the GM. One day the owner neglected to post results, then posts a message saying that he was done. Myself and the VP picked up the slack. The VP wished to remain VP, so I assumed control of the fed entirely (under the name Jeff Archer). Talk about Deja vu!!


So, for the past couple of months, I have been controlling two high-quality feds. Both had highly dedicated members, both have great staff, both have a wonderful OOC atmosphere. There is one problem in the PWO, and one problem in EW. Ironically again, they are eerily the same problem. Lack of members. EW is down to 5-6 active members at the moment, and PWO is down to around 9-10 (which will end up being less when 2 characters are retired, as they are handled by staff currently).


So, I think you all can see the logical next step here. Two good feds, whose only problem is membership......why not merge the two and have one great fed with a good roster?


I have spoken to both PWO and EW staff, and everyone is on board. So, I put it to you, the members. I would like all of you to go over to the PWO (ProminentWrestlingOrganization.8m.com), take a look around, tell me what you think. I just ask that you enter this with an open mind.


My two cents? I think that for the long term survival of BOTH feds, this makes a TON of sense. I am 100% for it, as are the rest of the staff. The talent here and there are equally good, and I feel that it would lead to nothing but good things.


I am going to post a very similar message over at the PWO, letting those members know what is up. The feedback that is received from both sides of the equation will be taken into account.

I took a look around and the fed looks nice. In terms of keeping Evolution open, and I am sure the same can be said about PWO, it is a great idea.

My thoughts are:

. Like it or not, eVo has been on life support since Russ left & took half the roster with him (whatever your thoughts are about that whole situation. I'm not interested in opening up that can of worms again!)

. We need fresh blood from somewhere & our name is pretty tainted on Experts & to a lesser degree EFK (which has many of the same members)

. A merger would be good for us, but would need to be done right storyline wise

. Also, while I deeply dislike the "Prominent Wrestling Organisation" as a name, I think it probably makes better "business" sense for us to take that name & get away from the stigma that EW brings with it (eg. when I was rp'ing for the APW show a few weeks ago, Level-One who is an insanely good writer & who I have no personal relationship with, used my representation of Evolution in the battle royale as a sign of weakness & ragged on Evo for a lot of it. That says to me that our reputation has preceeded us!)

. In conclusion, I think a merger is a good idea, if done right

Although this is not a thread that is to be used to vent, but in regards to the mention of Evolution being a sign of weakness over the Russ situation, everyone just needs to get the fuck over it.

Otherwise, I'm all for the merger. However, not taking the PWO name. Tim pays for webspace, and we aren't going to throw his hard-earned and well-spent money to waste. With PWO coming here, they take the Evolution banner.

I think that is an awfully hard line to take right off the bat. You sound as if EW is "gobbling" up the PWO which couldn't be further from the truth. It is a merger of two great feds with great staffs and great roleplayers. Clearly it makes the most sense to use this this site, but I would suggest a whole new name. Just throwing it out there.

My apologies for sounding a bit curt there Kris, wasn't my intention. This isn't an excuse, but I'm right now on three different meds that are making me extremely irritable, so a lot of things are coming off wrong.

It is truly a merger, but with my understanding, you can't change your domain name without paying additional money. Tim has financially backed this webspace and URL, and I don't want his money to go to waste. So, if we can't change our URL, we can't really change our name. So PWO would, unfortunately, have to fall under our banner.

Glad to hear. It's truly not that we want to throw away the idea of PWO. I would prefer a name change if we could, but with Tim paying out his money to keep us going, we have to bow to the financial sector, you know? LOL.

Yeah, I was thinking it would be best to change the name, for a complete fresh start, but Matt hit the nail on the head when it comes to the hosting/financial piece of the puzzle.

And Keebs, don't mind Matt, he's got more fire in his belly than a fat guy after "all you can eat burrito" night.

It's no secret that we've been slowly circling down the drain, and it's difficult to get members when we have such a small roster. Who wants to join a fed that requires construction? This merger could be the thing that pulls Evolution out of the drain and put it back on the map. Naturally, it does the same for PWO. I'm definitely all for it.

It pleases me to no end to hear such a positive response from both the EW side of things, as well as the PWO. This is gonna be great!

If you all want a name change I am fine with that. However you all would have to pitch in the $10 for a domain name and I will do the rest in regards to moving the site and forums over. I have done it before and it was not an issue. When I first bought my webspace I defaulted http://evolutionwrestling.net as the parent root domain. When I let Laura and Russ run the place I wanted them to have access to update it, but with that came a problem. If they have access to my root then they would have access to everything including sites I have made for other companies who have paid me. So I went and bought http://timkamen.com and moved all of the EW stuff over to a sub-folder that if they had access they could only access that stuff.

So yeah, I can move it over if you want, you just need to fork up the $10 and decide on a name. Let me know what you want to do and if that is the route you want to go I will send you guys my PayPal info.

The only real downfall I can see from a name change is people might try and say we are running and/or hiding from our past and mistakes.

Honestly, it would be nice to keep it as EW. It makes sense to change the name with all that happened in the past but at the same time, they'll just find another way to bash us and it won't really help us.

I've seen plenty of internet backlash from people who hate certain communities, and I can tell you right now, it doesn't matter what we call ourselves. People who are hellbent on hating us will use anything they can to badmouth us. Personally, I want to keep it as Evolution Wrestling. If we do it simply because we're hated by The Experts, then we're letting them dictate the terms. This is our playground, folks. Not theirs. If a name change is in the cards, then it should happen on our terms.
